What skills will I gain after 4 weeks in a beginners' course?

At the end of 4 weeks of beginners’ intensive German course, you will be able to:

  • use basic everyday phrases aimed at meeting specific needs such as ordering dinner and buying groceries
  • introduce yourself
  • ask and answer questions about personal details such as where you live, people you know, things you do and what you have
  • interact with others in a simple way and understand simple sentences

To put it shortly, our aim is to make you start speaking from day one in our beginners’ intensive German language course.

How long does it take to learn the German language with an intensive course?

First and foremost, not all intensive German courses are the same. Typically, intensive classes begin in the summer as younger students have a break and free time to focus on the course. While some of these courses aim at boosting existing skills in a short period, others build and develop skills gradually. German intensive courses generally comprise 80 lessons per module, which take 4 weeks to complete. Quite understandably, the group size impacts the learning rate and groups smaller than 6 require less time. Some programs focus on grammar, conversation, or vocabulary, but it is often a combination of them all. The main key characteristic of an intensive course is namely that they teach you a lot in a minimal amount of time. They all include reading, writing, speaking, and listening comprehension. The best intensive language courses utilise immersion as a learning technique, just like we do. If you are looking for a more relaxed pace, you can check out our evening German course in Berlin.

If a super intensive course is needed, students can opt either for intensive plus, which includes more lessons through the addition of evening classes, or intensive special, which includes private instruction. In addition, our school offers custom length programs. For example, some of the German intensive German classes in Berlin are organised by age, such as the German Summer School.
